I’m going out of town this weekend for a first upstate visit of the season. I know I’m pushing it a bit, but this is the glorious time of flowering fruit trees, the return of migratory birds, and restaurants reopening for more than two days a week. Here’s a collection of five restaurants I love, and which you won’t have trouble getting into now — but which are often mobbed once summer starts.
Mama’s Boy Burgers in Tannersville
Located in the Upper Catskills, Tannersville is a stone’s throw from Hunter Mountain and Kaaterskill Falls, and Mama’s Boy is just what you want a hamburger stand to be: a yard on a hill filled with picnic tables that deliver splendid views, juicy burgers in the modern idiom made with pedigreed beef from an area farm.
