The Place That's Serving the Best Tamales
If you're lucky, you live nearby. If not, these are worth a trip.
Evelia Coyotzi migrated here from Tlaxcala, Mexico — a state just north of Puebla and east of Mexico City — over 20 years ago. It’s a state known for producing fighting bulls, and also famous for the diversity of its tamales; indeed these tube-shaped masa packets formed from a dough of slaked corn and lard may have originated there. Coyotzi started her tamale-making career with a simple cart on Roosevelt Boulevard, but by 2022 she had opened a shop at 96-09 Northern Boulevard in Corona.
