This weekly column appears every Friday, in which I’ll suggest fun dining spots, worth devoting to your leisure time on the weekend. Places recently opened get special emphasis, as do long-forgotten chestnuts that are still superb. Many places feature corollary attractions, such as hikes, museums, eminent architecture, and neighborhoods distinguished by their unique feel.
Guy Fieri creeps back into Times Square
I suppose we shouldn’t take it as an insult that Guy Fieri’s new Chicken Guy! chain didn’t appear in NYC until it had already debuted in 14 other locations, among them Los Angeles; Las Vegas; King of Prussia, PA; Winter Park, FL; and — to our infinite shame — nearby in Atlantic City. Maybe it was the reaming he’d received at the hands of Pete Wells on his last try, but, if so, why did he set down in Times Square again, at 136 West 42nd Street?
